White needle-like crystal or white scaly solid, easily sublime; can absorb moisture; slightly soluble in cold water and ether, soluble in ethanol, benzene and chloroform, easily soluble in hot water and be decomposed into phthalic acid; inflammable, will burn when meeting naked fire and strong oxidants. Highest concentration in the air is 2PPM.
Widely used in the manufacture of various plasticizers; in the synthesis of anthraquinone and phthalocyanine blue BS, phthalocyanine blue BX, phthalocyanine blue B etc. Also used as raw material for polyester resin, alkyd resin, unsaturated polyester, medicines, food additives and pesticides
